On Wednesday the 4th of December, Weave Women and Children’s Centre held our End of Year Wrap Up Party at Redfern PCYC to celebrate 2019 with our wonderful clients and community members.
We had a fantastic turn out and managed to keep the kids busy whilst mums, carers and community members got the chance to relax and have a chat. The room was filled with loads of colourful balloons, hoola hoops, tenpin bowling, music and a colouring in table for the kids. Our amazing face painter, AJ, was a crowd favourite; turning the kids into unicorns, tigers and superheroes and giving the adults some spectacular temporary body art with her talent.
One of the highlights of the day were the parachute games organised by our new Children’s Worker Gabi, who brought in a giant parachute for the kids to play with. Many laughs were had as the kids ran under and over, hid underneath and threw balloons into the parachute to watch them bounce and float around.
Lunch was a delicious array of roast chickens and homemade salads, provided by the team, and was very much enjoyed by everyone present. We also had some sweet treats for dessert including lots of cake and fruit!
After lunch was over, the moment everyone had been waiting for had arrived: Santa and his team of elves from Shopper Media Group burst through the door with the Christmas gifts they generously donated. Each child received their very own gift and a photo with Santa. The kids loved their new toys, ripping off all the packaging and wrapping to play with them immediately!
It was an awesome day full of fun, laughter and yummy food; the perfect way to celebrate another wonderful year at Weave Women and Children’s Centre.
