Description
Join our Driving Change program.
Weave is always looking for dedicated volunteers to help people get their driving licence.
Having a driving licence is a great accomplishment for anyone, but for those who face disadvantage it is so much more. For people who face disadvantage having a licence can help with job opportunities, better access to education opportunities, and better access to health care.
Weave provides five cars (four automatic and one manual) across Waterloo, La Perouse and Woolloomooloo for students and mentors to use. All cars are insured through Weave and come equipped with fuel cards and dash cams.
To be a driving mentor you must be over 25 years old and hold a current NSW Class C Unrestricted licence. Our Driving Change program is very flexible. You can drive any time you and your student are free including after hours and weekends. No professional experience is needed. You just need to be a confident driver and to be someone who is patient and who feels confident to supervise learner drivers.
If you do not fit the above criteria to be a driving mentor, there are still many ways you can help with this program. Volunteers can help people practise for the driver knowledge test, various administration tasks, helping people practise the hazard perception test, and helping people book tests through roads and maritime services.
There are both automatic and manual cars provided.
